The concept of EP emphasizes interactions, relationships, and collective properties of systems and their parts, in which the sum is greater than the parts. The hexagonal shape of the armature is important as it is ubiquitous in nature and is a most efficient packing shape. For me, it is a shape from one of my earliest memories of watching my beekeeping grandfather work with his hives. These basket-like forms emerge as six sided constructions and remain that to their terminal ends.
