Mechanics of Hither and Yon
at Portland International Airport

Seeds, insects, and ideas. Traditions, technologies, and germs. All travel through the world changing the places they leave behind and the places they land. Mechanics of Hither and Yon was a site-specific installation that surrounded travelers in Concourse A at Portland International Airport as they traveled up and down an escalator. The exhibit features a multitude of organic forms that allude to the influences of global travel on natural systems and cultures through the metaphor of seeds and spores.
