Proximate Parcels, 2019, Deconstructed thread spools and cores, 70 x 34 x 4 inches

Proximate Parcels is comprised of spools of industrial sewing thread that have been sliced apart to expose the individual strands. The varying shades of red reference the colonizing tool of blood quantum that even to this day inform some Native tribal enrollments. The title references destructive allotment policies which eroded tribal communities. The spool cores, around which the thread was wrapped, are also sliced apart and inserted back to form the spine-like stacked columns  representing the intact cultural cores that remain in spite of divisive government policies.
